Celebrities Can Stop Gun Violence

I think celebrities can stop gun violence. But, it depends on who the person is and if that person is strong enough to lead in something big that can change the world.
First, a celebrity might be a hypocrite. So, it can be hard for some celebrities to make a stand and for other people to agree with them. I think there are a lot of really good celebrities that can give a great speech about gun violence but people might think that there are a hypocrite, so this can change people’s way of thinking about if they can believe them or not. For example, if i’m in a movie where I shoot guns or in a rap video with a gun in my hand. It makes it look like I’m into guns, and I might want to be a bad person.

I can understand this, but not all people are bad. I know a lot of celebrities that are in violent movies and tv shows but they care for others and they want to put a stop to gun violence. They’re sick of little kids dying and not getting able to live their life. Also, I think that if celebrities can go in front of a group of people and they can give a great speech they can stop gun violence. For example, Jamie Foxx and beyonce are in bad movies, like Beyonce was in Obsessed and that had a lot of violent moments.

In 1996, Australia experienced its deadliest mass shooting in history, in which 35 people died and 23 were injured. The Australian government responded to the massacre by banning assault rifles. However, in the United States, the 2nd Amendment guarantees “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” I believe that the 2nd Amendment should not protect the right of the people to own assault rifles. I feel this way because I think a assault rifles can be misused. For example, on June 2015, at A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Dylan Roof killed 9 people using an assault rifle.. He claimed he wanted to start a race war. This proves that assault rifles can be used for the wrong reasons because took 9 innocent people’s lives for a no good reason.  Another example is the a gunman attacked a dance club early sunday morning killing 50 people and another 53 wounded. This shows how that if people have assault rifles it can cause huge mass shooting and make the U.S ever less safe.

 

Gun Violence

The most important issue regarding gun violence is guns are to get. . If people didn’t have easy ways to get guns, people would not be killing others. According to Business Insider, “Chicago police have been taking one illegal gun off the street every  74 minutes.” This shows that guns are easy to get because there are over 200,000 guns are being taken off the streets. Also, USA Today states that there are more gunshot victims than any other violent crime. This means that compared to stabbings there were 1,084 more gunshot victims. In conclusion, all of this evidence shows that guns kill people because there are to many guns on the streets and  way too easy to get guns.
